University of Alberta

Pharmacist graduated at University of Guadalajara, Mexico (1994), Master in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at National Autonomous University of Mexico (1997), PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Medicinal Chemistry) at University of Alberta, Canada (2005), and Postdoctoral fellow in Medicinal Chemistry at National Cancer Institute, USA (2008). Currently, he is Associate Professor of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Alberta. He has participation on Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC), is a member of the board of directors of Canadian Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences (CSPS) and member and associate editor for the Journal of Mexican Chemical Society (SMQ). His research involves the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of molecules that could potentially delay, inhibit, or cease carcinogenesis, with a particular interest on the discovery of new Forkhead box M1 (FOXM1) transcription factor modulators and naturally occurring polyphenol derivatives.

University of Sao Paulo

Graduate at Physic from University of Sao Paulo (1976), master's at Physic from University of Sao Paulo (1979) and PH.D. at Physic from University of Sao Paulo (1985). Has experience in Physic, focusing on Physical Statistics and Thermodynamics, acting on the following subjects: self-organized criticality, complex systems, earthquakes, scale and fractal laws.

Federal University of Rio de Janeiro

Eliezer J. Barreiro is a Pharmacist graduated at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1970), Master in Chemistry of Natural Products at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1973) and Docteur d´Ètat in Chimie Médicale from Université de Grenoble I (Université Scientifique et Médicale - Joseph Fourier, Université de Grenoble, France) (1978). Currently, he is Full Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, Brazil) and author of more than 300 papers and 15 patents. His research subjects are Medicinal Chemistry, Design and Synthesis of New Lead-compounds, Molecular Modeling and Dynamics, Synthesis of Bioactive Compounds, in particular N-acylhydrazone (NAH) derivatives and isosteres. He is the Scientific Coordinator of National Institute of Science and Technology in Drugs and Medicines (INCT-INOFAR), the founder and Scientific Director of Laboratório de Avaliação e Síntese de Substâncias Bioativas (LASSBio) of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and full member of Brazilian Academy of Science since 2001. In 2010, he was awarded as Oficial Grã Cruz from National Order of Scientific Merit of the Presidency of Brazil.

Working on Drug Design of New Chemotherapeutic Agents against Neglected Diseases: Chagas disease, malaria, leishmaniasis and tuberculosis, using prodrug design and rational drug design approaches. Recently working on dendrimer prodrugs with potential activity in neglected diseases.

University of Republic

PhD in pharmacy at University of Navarra (UNAV, Pamplona, Spain). Full Professor at University of Republic. Researcher at National System of Investigators and Development of Basic Sciences Program, in Uruguay.  Currently he is coordinator at Ibero-American Network of Investigation, Development and Innovation of Antichagasic Drugs, of CYTED. He has experience in drug design, with emphasis in neglected diseases and cancer.

University of Sao Paulo

Graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Catholic University of Campinas (2004), Master and Doctorate in Science, in Drugs and Medicines Program, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Sao Paulo (2007 and 2012 respectively), PhD Sandwich in England, University of Central Lancashire (2011) and Postdoctoral in Drug and Medicine, in University of São Paulo (2015). Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of São Paulo since 2015. She has experience in Pharmacy, with emphasis in Medicinal Chemistry, acting on the following topics: dendrimers, molecular modification, prodrug design, molecular modeling, chemical stability studies and enzymatic dendrimer prodrugs.

Mississippi, United States of America

Pharmacist graduated at University Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1988), Master of Science at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1992), got the PhD on Medicinal Chemistry at University of Mississippi (2000). Maria Alvim Gaston worked with Computational Chemistry at Eli Lily and Company, as Research Scientist (2000-2004) and Senior Researcher Scientist (2004-2008). Also worked as External Operation Consultant (2008-2012). Currently, Maria Alvim-Gaston is Senior Researcher Scientist, working with Computational Chemistry and Open Innovation Drug Discovery at Eli Lilly, in USA.

Undergraduate in Pharmacy at Federal University of Alfenas (EFOA / UNIFAL) (1999) and Ph.D in Drug and Medicines at the University of São Paulo (FCF-USP) (2003). Post-doctoral internship in Organic Synthesis, at State University of Campinas (Unicamp). Assistant Professor (MS-3) at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of São Paulo. Member of the Technical Committee of the Thematic Brazilian Nonproprietary Names (CTT DCB) of the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia Commission (CFB). He has experience in Pharmacy, with an emphasis on Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, mainly in the following areas: design, synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of bioactive drug candidates and prodrugs; organic synthesis; latentiation drugs.

University of Turbingen

Full professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the University of Turbingen, Germany. He is coordinator of the Interfaculty Center for Pharmacogenomics and Pharma Research at the University of Turbingen, where he is also head of Brazilian-Center, which stimulates binational studies between Brazil and Germany, encouraging new scientific collaborations in the area. Founding dean of the German University in Cairo (GUC) and member of German Pharmaceutical Society. His main research interest is drug development for individual medicine. Author of over 320 publications and member of editorial board of the “Journal of Medicinal Chemistry”.
